Who we are
State of the Market is a free email newsletter written by Billy. Contact: stateofmarket@mail.grokbot.com.
What we collect
Your email address (required). Optionally, your first name, how much you know about investing, and the topics you're interested in. Automatically: the date you signed up, which form you used and the link you came from (UTM tags), and open and click data. Our email provider, beehiiv, also collects IP and device data.
Why we collect it
To send you the newsletter, greet you by name, pitch topics at the right level, see what's useful, and meet our legal obligations, such as keeping a record of your consent.
Who we share it with
Our email provider beehiiv, which handles it on our behalf, and its subprocessors (for example AWS and SendGrid). We never sell or rent your data. Sponsors never receive it.
Overseas storage
Your details are stored in the USA, with beehiiv (on AWS).
Cookies and analytics on this website
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The sign-up form and a small attribution script (which passes the link you came from, such as an Instagram or X link, to your subscription) are loaded from our email provider, beehiiv. We don't run advertising cookies or sell data.
How long we keep it
While you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe we keep a suppression record so you're never re-added by mistake, and you can ask us to delete the rest.
Security
Two-factor sign-in on our email account, limited access, and no shared spreadsheets.
Your choices
Unsubscribe anytime with one click at the bottom of any email. It's actioned within 5 working days. To ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your details, email stateofmarket@mail.grokbot.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
Not for children
The newsletter is for people aged 18 and over.
Complaints
Please contact us first. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top.
