“Most money news is written for bankers, or by people trying to sell you something. This isn't.”
Australia first, then the world, so you always know where to look. Every section ends with a “What this means for you” line.
What moved the ASX, the RBA and rates, the Aussie dollar, housing, petrol and commodities this week, with “what this means for you” after each part.
The big international stories (the US Fed, Wall Street, China, oil, crypto) and how they flow through to Australia. Then the dates worth knowing for the coming week: RBA decisions, inflation and jobs numbers, big company results.
A jargon buster, source notes for every figure, and about five minutes of reading.
Fri & SunYou don't need to know what an index is. You just want to understand what's going on with your money, without feeling dumb or being sold to.
These excerpts are taken word for word from sample issue #001, the week of 19–23 October 2026.
Inflation is how fast prices are rising. If inflation is 4%, something that cost $100 last year costs about $104 now. A little is normal. Too much makes life dearer, so the RBA raises interest rates to slow spending down. That's why Wednesday's number matters so much.
Figures as at 24 Oct 2026 (Sydney time), from public sources listed in the issue #001 source notes. General information only, not financial advice.
I work with my hands, and I've been investing for about six years. I'm not a finance pro and I'm definitely not a guru. I'm an everyday worker who's spent a fair few years reading the market news, and I know how much of it is written for people who already speak the lingo.
So I write the version I'd want to read. Every week I go through the market wraps, check the numbers against their sources, and explain what happened in plain English. Any jargon gets a box. If I get something wrong, I'll say so and fix it.
I'm not a licensed financial adviser, so I'll never tell you what to buy or sell, or share what I'm buying. This is about understanding what's going on with your money, so you can make your own calls.
Cheers, Billy

No. It's general information only. It explains what happened in the markets and what it can mean in general, and it doesn't take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. It never tells you to buy, sell or hold anything. For decisions about your own money, consider whether something is right for you, and speak to a licensed financial adviser if needed.
Never. No tips, no price targets, no “this could 10x”.
That's exactly who it's written for. Every term is explained the first time it shows up. If something still doesn't click, just reply and ask.
Public sources like the RBA, ABS, ASX and major news outlets. Every figure is listed with its source and the date it was correct. Prices move, so they may have changed since. Here are the sources for issue #001.
